Propositions 134 and 135 endanger children and threaten families.
In November, two measures which attack the rights and dignity of not only trans children, but their families. They do this while endangering all children as a careless side effect.
Proposition 134 (formerly Initiative 109): Ban trans children from participation in sports
…new law restricting participation in all K-12 and collegiate school sports based on the participant’s sex as determined by certain aspects of their biological reproductive system

Proposition 134 is vague because the laws that have been passed in other states which specifically outline the requirements needed to verify a student’s “biological sex” are disgusting. In places that already have laws like this, trans and cis children alike are subjected to genital exams. Proponents of the bill claim that this fear is overblown, but have not said that it would be going too far, they maintain that the system must be based on whether the student is “A person whose biological reproductive system is organized around the production of ova”, and leaves it up to school administrators to determine which students’ biological reproductive systems are organized around what.
Proposition 135 (formerly initiative 110): ban gender-affirming surgery for minors
Proposition 135 takes healthcare decisions away from parents and healthcare professionals and firmly situates that decision making power in the halls of our state legislature. The consensus is quite clear: the bodies which make up and represent our medical professionals agree that gender-affirming care saves lives and makes lives better. The American Medical Association is very clear on this:
Empirical evidence has demonstrated that trans and non-binary gender identities are normal variations of human identity and expression. For gender diverse individuals, standards of care and accepted medically necessary services that affirm gender or treat gender dysphoria may include mental health counseling, non-medical social transition, gender-affirming hormone therapy, and/or gender-affirming surgeries.

2026 General Election: November 3, 2026
You can check your status, or register to vote at at GoVoteColorado.gov. In Colorado, ballots are mailed to the address on your voter registration, though you must register by October 26, 2026 for a mail in ballot.
You can return your ballot any time before election day, as well as on election day as long as the clerk and recorder has it by 7:00pm.
You may even register in-person on election day, at your place of polling.
